With Thor – The God of Art, René Turrek created a deeply personal milestone within his acclaimed Superhero Series. From the very beginning, the artist knew that Thor, the god of thunder, had to be the next hero — not only because of his iconic strength, but because for Turrek, Thor symbolizes power, endurance, and creative energy — qualities that also define his own artistic journey.
Turrek combined masterful oil painting with an innovative technical experiment: the painted action figure was coated with a layer of epoxy resin, making the plastic packaging appear strikingly realistic and giving the illusion of a genuine 3D figure. This process presented immense technical challenges and marked a new milestone in Turrek’s artistic evolution.
